Guilty pleasure #234

I love watching stuff I bought as it moves across the country on the shipping companies' websites.

Today's mission: Watching new cellphones as they navigate from Memphis to my house.

I'm on the opposite side of this one this week. I ordered 2 items from Amazon November 27th for a trip I'm taking Monday, December 10th. It still has not been picked up by carrier per the website. Oh the frustration.

Ohhhh, Marshall, don't you know that Memphis is a black hole. We send newspapers up there and they disappear, never to be read again.

Memphis post office is the WORST.

I do the same thing. And Regina, Memphis is the FedEx headquarters. If you get some from FedEx, it will be in Memphis at some point.

My sister's computer was shipped from somewhere in Asia a few years ago -- so she watched it travel around the world. It was very strange to see the route it took to get here. :)

Oooh! Thanks for the reminder to go see where the heck my GPS is that I ordered from Best Buy on November 23.

Ordered stuff from Old Navy same day and that came in last week!

While you're at it, see if you can find my parents' gifts, which according to Amazon arrived at my house yesterday. Ironically, b squared, mine were also shipped on the 27th.

me, too! and, when i see it's in richland, i have an urge to just call and say, "don't bother putting it on a truck, i'll come by and get it."

A lot of companies have built distribution centers in Memphis to be near Fed Ex. For example, when I order from MacMall, I know to order standard ground shipping instead of 2-day or overnight -- it will get there overnight anyway and you only have to pay the standard rate.

I am getting smarter as I get older.

And the UPS truck is the big person version of the ice cream truck.

My item is in Cincinnati....

I had a shipment of books this summer that NEVER arrived. The tracking showed it at the arrival dock for WEEKS. Took an act of congress (and a signed affidavit) before they would send out a new package.

Now that was frustrating.

my ups says that my items are in jackson - in transit - today - for delivery tomorrow- i want to go flag down on the ups drivers today and say just let me go throught the truck and find my things, don't drive around until tomorrow...

My phones are in Richland. I may walk down there and pick them up. But that would deny Mrs. R the thrill of having the FedEx truck show up at our house.

No wait, they are on the truck. I am tingling with excitememnt. No, my leg is asleep.

My Secret Santa gift was shipped FedEx from Olive Branch (apparently Hallmark has a distribution center there) and was supposed to arrive in Aloha, Oregon yesterday. The tracker says it was dropped off in Beaverton, Oregon. Between that and the floods in the NW I'm worried my friend didn't get her gift.

Update: my friend got her gift and loved it!

We sent a monitor in to be repaired under warranty and during the shipping return to us it just vanished. It was scanned in at one location and was never scanned again. The monitor company took it up with the shipping company and it was just gone. Monitor company shipped us a brand new monitor. Four months later, our repaired monitor showed up! Called monitor company to ask what to do and they said just keep it and don't worry about it. Weird.

Phones arrived. Need to activate them when I get home.

How interesting! We have the largest house in our county and it's PINK! FedEx and UPS still can't find us and we're on a major highway! It would be funny if it weren't frustrating! :)
