"Seven Bridges Road" by The Eagles came on my iPod last night as I was driving home. CAR KARAOKE! I still don't have a voice left -- that one gets me every time.
I discovered last night that I already own the Charlie Brown Christmas on CD. I bought it last year at Starbucks when I was there with my mom. I had instructions from Mr. H (who is in Boston for the week) that he would REALLY prefer me not to open my Christmas present (the turntable) when it is delivered today. Chuck was the only real temptation! In about 5 minutes it will be on my MP3 player.
Car karaoke is the greatest! I used to make "sing" tapes (back before I got an iPod) and now I have a "sing" playlist that I use in the car. It's a little harder with an audience (even if he's only 2!). But when he's not telling me, "all done sing, Mommy!" my list includes a little of everything. I learned the hard way not to sing along with Patti LuPone to "I Dreamed a Dream" (from Les Miserables) on the way to church. Totally shot my voice that day, and I was singing praise team!
I used to play harmonica with a couple of guys in a bar in Knoxville. (The bar is gone, but not because of my playing). One time, I started singing -- and one of them turned to me, off mic, and said, "What the hell do you think you are doing?"
I got in my car last night and Mr. Eagle had changed the radio station, which happens every time he drives my car, but I left it where he had it for a change and I was glad I did. They played Horse With No Name by America, one of my alltime favorites.
The Eagles is my favorite band, but that should be no surprise. I just went to their website, eaglesband.com and listened to 10 songs including Lying Eyes and Desparado. They are the best. And I like their new album too.
When I was a Southern Eagle, the sororities and fraternities had a songfest every year. They put me on the front row because I was short and told me to smile a lot, but if one song note came through my lips, I was dead meat!

A friend gave us that CD a few years ago and it is one of my all-time favorite Christmas CDs.
And you get "Linus and Lucy (the Peanuts' theme)" as a bonus!
I LOVE Seven Bridges Road! One of their best.
I still have Charlie Brown on cassette; it's about dead. Time for a replacement.
"Heartache Tonight" is one of my favorite Eagles songs.
Garth Brooks' greatest hits cd is my karaoke track. I sing it loud 'n proud.
Shameless is the best song on that CD for Car Karaoke. The River will be played at my funeral.

That was my last attempt at public singing.
