OK. Here is the place to keep this thing going while I am trying to recharge my brain. I will jump in when and if I can. Have a good T-day. I'm very thankful for all of you.
My eldest is home and today is her 19th birthday. Life is sometimes too full of conflicting emotions packed right on top of each other. Yesterday was a definite bummer and last night at church was a tough one for my pastor. He got through it, though. I knew he would. Why do we expect preachers to be super-human in the face of the death of a friend?
Happy Thanksgiving to all from GA! Enjoyed a few days in the mountains and now we are in the big town of Atlanta. May end up heading to Mobile before the weekend is over since my Dad just got out of the hospital and can't make the trip to GA. Then back to Mississippi for home. Hope everyone is blessed with family and friends tomorrow and some good food too.
I will, however, celebrate the fact that this is the first year since I left school that I will have Friday off. THAT was always a wasted day at the bank!
Everyone have a nice Thanksgiving and all the ladies here a nice Black Friday. I woke up this morining to 6" of SNOW. YEH SNOW!!!! Now I can go get pictures in the snow again....
BTW this stuff is coming your way and it is a cold one too....
I want to wish everyone a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving. Let's have no fights on Friday while shopping either.
Now to decide where to go eat lunch tomorrow, as it is just the hubby and me. The kids are all gone with other family, my folks out of town, and already had Thanksgiving with the inlaws. Hmmm.. anywhere good besides the Picadilly or Cracker Barrel?
Mighty Penguin, we are getting snow too, the melted kind. It is a pretty gray day. The rain is peppering down and the leaves are shining out scarlet and gold.
STACEY, I'm glad someone woke up and made the 200th post. I could have last night, but I didn't want to seem too chatty, ya know, like I was talking to myself. They get on to me for that as it is. lol!!!
I am late getting on because I had to go by and pick up two turkey breasts before the big rush this afternoon. I"m going to try t get everythin I need for tomorrow before darkness falls tonight.
Wednesday before thanksgiving around here is somewhat like Black Friday morning. Folks lined up wall-to-wall trying to check out. I didn't realize we had that many folks around here.
I'm late getting in cause I had to go with my baby girl to see her new endocrinologist (sp??). Her pancreas isn't quite dead yet, but he confirmed it's headed that way. Her levels aren't swinging as bad as they were, but she's not quite stable yet. Type 1 diabetes sucks!!
We are hoping that they'll let us go around noon today. I'll be heading up to central MS to spend a couple of days with my folks, and grandbabes. YEAH.
Aaaaaaaaaaccccccckkkkkkkk! Clucky, I nearly spit coffee all over my keyboard!!!! Too funny! And actually he's the only husband I've ever had who wouldn't be found in someone else's bed, but that's another story! Heh!
We recorded Pursuit of Happyness last week and watched it night before last. I would absolutely recommend that everyone watch this movie. Will Smith did a tremendous job and his real son, who played his son in the movie, did a wonderful job too. I dare you to watch it without shedding a tear or two! And yes, I misspelled happiness on purpose as will be explained in the movie.
Not yet, but he's getting her one. He thinks she should wait until her levels settle out a bit more, but since she's met her $5,400 deductible for the year and the thing is about $6,000, he's going ahead and getting it for her before the end of the year. Probably won't hook her up on it till early next year.
I used my time wisely last night since there was nothing on TV until 9:00 p.m. and I record on the TV in the bedroom and Mr. Eagle recordes his crap, uh stuff, on the TV in the living room. I had some walnuts in the freezer from last year, so I put them in the oven and toasted them and then made chocolate fudge with marshmallow creme and instead of the 1/2 cup of nuts the recipe called for, I used at least 2 cups. I had sample A and sample B and then in fear of a sugar rush at the midnight hour, I sealed the top of the container. It is so good and now I know I have about 3 pounds of fudge just sitting there waiting to be sampled again.
I'm waiting to hear from my number 3 son, whose new baby is being induced in Hattiesburg today. The baby has been retaining fluid on his stomach and since he is due December 1st anyway, the doctor decided to induce labor today. They think the procedure to fix the situation will be minor. Please keep them in your prayers. It wasn't possible for me to be in Hattiesburg with them today, so I have been thinking about them all morning and hope to hear something soon.
Oh, Regina, reading your hair coloring experience cracked me up. Mr. Eagle went to Wal-Mart one time and picked up some for me. I guided him to the right color via cell phone, but when he got home the color he brought was darker. It turns out that he stopped to get a cold drink out of the cooler and sat the hair color box on top of the cooler and it fell behind the cooler, so he went back and got a replacement box on his own. I remember the Elvira look very well!
If I were inclined to do the right thing, I would take that fudge over to our friends Thanksgiving cookout tomorrow, but I'm trying to convince myself that it wouldn't be enough for all of them and that I should keep that mesely amount around the house for an emergency!
Eagle, doctors can do just tremendous things today with our modern medicines and proceedures can't they. Prayers for you and yours.
Coop, I understand the baby bit. And diabetes is such a weird disease. It's not one of those like measles or chicken pox that you can diagnose and prescribe thus and such for.
Every case is different. Every body is different. What may work for one won't work for another. Just keep a CLOSE eye on her that first week or two with that pump. They can drive you crazy sometimes.
Our pastor has one. he's been on it for years. His doctor readjusted the meter last week and he wound up bottoming out sugar wise.
Do your research, read up on every thing you can on her type of pump and know exactly how to adjust it if something goes wrong.
And please, PLEASE remind her, even though she is on a pump, ALWAYS keep something with sugar with her. Bro. Marcus almost completely blacked out and he was driving.
I've enjoyed reading all your comments. I am off for my chemo treatment, then home to enjoy the holidays. I doubt seriously that I will be checking the computer the next few days, but I'll stop by and say hello if I do. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
Regina, I like the way you think and I tend to agree with you. I am sitting here drinking coffee and thinking of you and your chocolate kisses and coffee and just wondering if chocolate fudge and chocolate would be the same! Huuuummm!
You guys are making me want FUDGE!! But, I'll settle for the Candy Cane Joe Joe's that I found at Trader Joe's this week. They're like oreo's (only better!) but they have little bits of candy canes in the icing! HEAVEN!!!!
I loooooove Trader Joe's. I don't think I could ever move back to the south unless they start opening some Trader Joe's there. :) (they have them in Atlanta, but I don't really aspire to move there . . .)
Well, I'd love to chat some more, but I really need a nap today (been fighting a cold) and since little man is asleep, I better get one while I have the chance! :)
I am back from the hell that is a tonsillectomy as an adult. I missed blogland and am thankful that I am almost completely back to my insane self and back to work with my DSL connection!
Frank Melton has totally confused me. Here I was, thinking he was the biggest idiot on the planet, then he goes and hires Malcolm who might be the one person in Hinds County who can turn the crime problem around. 2008 is going to be an interesting year.
Hope all of ya'll have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving.
grammargirl, extra hugs go out to you while you are taking your treatment. Pray all goes well and you won't be too sick to enjoy your Thanksgiving day.
Grammergirl, hugs from me too. You'll be in my thoughts.
Regina, I think we should shoot for 250 by 3:00 p.m. today. I think that's when they are going to close my office so I've got 2 hours to contribute. Nothing else going on here.
Welcome back, Mayberry. And Grammargirl, I hope you are feeling better real soon and able to enjoy Thanksgiving.
Mr. Eagle did get off work early and on his way home, he stopped by County Market and happened to find some olive loaf in their deli instead of the packaged meat department. Wal-Mart used to carry it in their deli, but quit, and I haven't found it in Kroger's deli either. It's hard to believe that lunch meat has gotten so high, $4.69 per pound, so 5 slices came to a grand total of $2.11. We enjoyed good sandwiches for lunch though.
Katherine, looks like the closest Trader Joe's to our area is Atlanta with none in the planning stages for Mississippi. I guess in the meantime we will have to make do with the chocolate covered better than sex Oreos.
The Jackson area might not have a Trader Joe's, but we are getting a Fresh Market. Great bakery, wonderful meats and deli, fresh produce, teas... Nice specialty store that I have missed...
Happy Thanksgiving to all and safe travels wherever you go!
Happy Thanksgiving, Coop, and all the other MRBA members! I hope Marshall is stuffing himself silly with great food and family time. He deserves the rest and relaxation!
I have actually made an entry in my blog, ha ha, asking for recipes, so go check it out and feel free to share or ask for help with your holiday recipe needs.
Well, got to hang on to our hats. They are throwing the T word out strongly toward us. We've heard it before and it fizzles out. We will see what happens. I'm going to clear my photo chip just in case i need it.
That tornado warning box all across the central part of the nation creeping my way doesn't look too good either.
I hope all of you have a great Thanksgiving. I hope all of your families have safe travels. Remember to be thankful. Hug your love ones. You never know if this will be the last Thanksgiving you get to spend with them. Say a prayer for the men and women (a lot of them kids) that are serving this great country, at home and overseas. God bless you all.
If we knew how to get a hold of unimp, we could get him to bring a box of the Candy Cane cookies back for everyone. :) OR I could send a box to Marshall, then you could all converge on his office one day and eat them together! :)
regina- - that is a skinny little line of storms - but it is UGLY - packing quite a punch! You guys stay safe! :)
It was quite humerous. I fielded a call while ago from a friend of mine looking for my boss.
I told him about the bad weather coming. He said "Now Regina, I was looking forward to leaving without a lot of claims to file." Then I caught is voice, he was an insurance agent.
I hate not having a computer at home to keep up with the weather tonight. arg.
on the bright side... my new mouse arrived today! Along with my new fuzzy robe! Well, they didn't arrive in the same box... nor from the same company, heh.
I just had to run some errands and stopped by County Market and picked up a 99 cents per pound whole ham. Since I have never cooked a whole ham before, I'm off on a new adventure. The butcher told me how his mother taught him to do it, but my husband wants to inject it with cajun garlic marinade, so we probably will since he does that with smaller hams and puts them on the rotisserie and they are delicious.
On my way down Highway 80, it dawned on me that one of our MRBA members will be in Pearl for the holiday and no telling how many of each pass each in Wal-Mart and don't know it. I think a good project for Marshall after his "rest" would be to do a Marshall Ramsey illustrated MRBA t-shirt that we could purchase and wear to places where we could be running into each other.
Question of the day: How many would buy an aforesaid t-shirt?
I hope the bad weather doesn't affect any of you. My oldest is in Oxford, so she's in north Mississippi too.
Do you have a scanner at home? I have mine tuned to the weather station.
I find them more reliable than a severe radio. We got a uniden from Walmart forever ago for our office and it was cheep and it runs better than the $150 one from radio shack.
All you have to do is push the w/x button and the weather man starts talking.
Eagle that's a wonderful idea!!! the t-shirt that is. I'd buy the first one.
your daughter lives just west of me. Pray for us. The one good thing going our way is the Mississippi River. it usually cools off the storms. If you still see red and yellow across the miss river, look out!!
I've seen this weather pattern before, too. it was the same one we had in February 2001. it is setting up in the North and the south, with that lovely sunshine this afternoon.
But God knows how to stir things down and laugh at the weather man.
Dear Lord, Thank you for these friends I've met that are physically not so near, please bless them tomorrow as they gather with those they hold so dear, and may they ever know as we wander to and fro that they are loved dearly by You and me no matter where they go. Amen
HAPPY THANKSGIVING my DEAR friends. Will check in tomorrow sometime. LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!! Regina
I hadn't made fudge in years especially since all 6 children have been grown, but someone in my husband's office made some and he brought me a piece. Since I was out of pecans and the walnuts I had were in the freezer, I popped them in the oven for a while (without butter) and got them crisp. I added at least 2 cups of nuts to the fudge and it is yummy. I had to try a piece a while ago to see if it was still good. Heh!
Who knows, I may go from here to baking a cake or making a pie from scratch again. I have the best chocolate pie recipe and I haven't made a vanilla wafer cake or an apricot cake or a chocolate sheet cake in a long time and I think it's time to practice.
m814I just love fudge. My mom made the best fudge every year right before Christmas using the recipe from the marshmellow creme jar with some extra's added. I sure miss that fudge. I made some two years ago and it was really good. Not bad for a man that likes to cook sweets. I make killer tollhouse cookies.
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone. I am going to go play in the SNOW!!!
I was glad to see that the 3 men who were questioned and detained in the Natalie Holloway case have been re-arrested. I hope the authorities get the right answers this time.
And I have been thinking of the Jackson State student, LaTasha Norma, who has been missing over a week now. The F.B.I. has finally gotten involved, thank goodness.
I worked for divorce attorneys for a long time and we had a client who was in the office one day and then disappeared that night. Her body washed up in the river in another county about 6 weeks later. Her captor held her in a storage space for a few weeks before he killed her and then he was never brought to justice. Why can't these perverts just walk away?
I guess I shut down the blog. Is anyone out there? My new grandson hasn't arrived yet. Maybe he's waiting to be born on his cousins' birthday. My twin grandsons' birthday is tomorrow.

Thanksgiving greeting from Washington. My only comments about driving up here is Virginia must have made a fortune yesterday on traffic tickets (not from me).
unimp - Glad you made the trip safely (and without contributing to the Virginia state budget!) :) If you have a chance while you're here you should go to Trader Joe's and get some Candy Cane cookies to take back to our buddies in MS.
Just to let you all know. Susan was the only one to answer the question of the day correctly. The question was Why. My step father was a pyscology professor and on his final examine, he simply put Why? All but one of his student went into a long spill of Why. Only one student passed, when she wrote Why Not?
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I'm up at Momma-n-thems for the next couple of days, but Big Sis gave Mom a puter before she left for Dubai, so I'm on for a bit. Dial up, but better than nothing.
Eagle, that is a GREAT idea about the t-shirt. Count me in.
Unimp, I'm glad you made it safely to DC, with no tickets!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! My 12th grandchild came into the world some time between 12:30 and 1:00 o'clock this morning, weiging 7 pounds, 9 ounces and he is 20" long. They are running tests re: retention of fluid. This is the 8th grandson. We had 7 boys in a row and then 4 girls in a row, so I had thought this would be another girl, but we have flipped again.
Congrats, Eagle! We'll all keep the little one in our prayers that the fluid problem gets resolved soon.
At Lil Sis who has dsl... MUCH FASTER, but headed back to mom-n-thems in a minute. Just wanted to do a quick check in. About to go eat some sausage dip!!
Let us pause and give thanks for God IS good to us. We have more food to eat and clothes to wear than any nation on earth.
Clucky, you said it right. Merry Thanksgivoween. that's about the way the months go from October until december.
Man! i am so full of turkey and dressing and cornbread dressing, i can hardly type. But that sausage dip sure did sound good coop. You must share the recipe. Sounds like something we may want to do for Christmas.
And mighty penguin, make and eat some snow cream for all of us.
It's cold enough to snow here, just wont.
Well, i'm off to moms again. going to look at all the sale papers for tomorrow and then eat some dessert, drink some wassail , crochet, nap, talk to sis.
We are planning my parents Golden Wedding Anniversary Party for Dec. 22.
I hope all you dears have a good rest of the day!!! Looks like we can hit 300 by the end of the day tomorrow.
MAN!!!!! Why do we do this??? I've been grazing (didn't see TC anywhere) since 9:30 this a.m.
Regina, I'll get the recipe from Lil Sis. It is FINE. I could have done with just that today, but instead, let me see...
Beginning 9:30 a.m. Bacon, bisquit & coffee a cookie sausage dip & chips broci/cauli/carrot & ranch dip shrimp dip & crackers rice pudding made and tasted deviled eggs a cookie (ok, I think it's about noon or possibly 1 p.m.) sampled pickles a cookie somehow managed to not eat for a few hours while trying to do some stuff on moms pc...possibly went into some kind of food time warp because I can't really remember what I did Approx 3 p.m. tasted ham (perfect) sampled another deviled egg (sorry Clucky) tasted ham again (still perfect) tasted turkey (perfect) (keep in mind that I'm not actually COOKING anything, just enjoying Mom & Dad's expertise)
Some time around 5:30 we all loaded plates (since I was so full I'll say mine wasn't really loaded, but anyway) with: Turkey, ham, chicken wings, sausage, chickin-in-dressing, english peas, string beans, chicken spagetti, sweet potato casserole, deviled eggs, rolls,...and I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but it doesn't matter!!
Regina, you are so right about our blessings. We should remember them always.
Speaking of blessings, Big Sis called us at 7 tonight which is 5 a.m. her time tomorrow. We had a great visit and all is well in Dubai. We missed her being with us in person, but are glad she joined us via phone. Gotta love telephones.
I've been working on this posting for half an hour and hope like all getout it actually posts. I am on dial up after all!!
I know it's late and I'm talking to myself again, but...
Regina, I feel compelled to share with you something we did for my parents 50th. We had a ceramic platter done with their names and their anniversary date, then had it as a registry for when people came. They sign (with a special pen) their name (or message) and by the end of the event, the platter was completely covered with names and notes from friends and family. You then take it home, bake it and it becomes permanent. I just went and looked at the one my Mom has prominently displayed on her buffett. They treasure it. I can give you more details via email if you are interested. It is really special.
I just showed Mom my posting from last night about all the food. She said "but you didn't put anything about the desserts", then said, "but, then you didn't eat any". HA! That would be because I couldn't hold any!
Ok, there was sweet potato pie, pecan pie, applesauce cake, assorted cookies, unbaked fruitcake, and then, of course, the pumpkin pie that came out of nowhere when the young woman from Washington came in with my nephew, homesick and wishing for pumpkin pie. Of course, mom happened to have one in the freezer that she had made a couple of days ago, so even with all the other stuff, she popped it in the oven and vwala! Hot pumpkin pie for the homesick young lady! Ya gotta love Moms!
Ok, now to go eat breakfast that my Daddy just cooked of fried tenderloin, eggs and bisquits!!
unimp - normally DC isn't so windy, but in the winter when a cold front comes through, we can give Chicago a run for its money! :)
I'm staying as far away as possible from retail establishments today. Might do a little online shopping, but if I leave the house, it's only to go to Trader Joe's to stock up on more Candy Cane Joe Joe's. :)
Glad to hear that everyone (well, coop anyway! :)) enjoyed food and family yesterday. My sister cooked, and it was AWESOME, as usual. You guys should check out her food blog . . .
Coop! Please let me know about the platter. That is a marvelous idea.
I told my sister the other day we weren't going to put out a regular guest registry.
I wanted something folks could sign and leave a note if they wanted to. My boss lady does potttery, I'm sure I can get her to cast me a platter that is in the shape of two bells joined together.
Unimp, hee hee. Washington DC is located between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Atlantic ocean. It can get windy. But it is BEAUTIFUL country. The capital is gorgeous at night.
Your first sentence was going to be my question of the day.
How many of US turkeys dragged our tail feathers out of the bed and went shopping at 5 a.m. this morning, besides me?
The only place my tail feathers are at 5 am is IN MY BED! :) he he he I'm not enough of a morning person to shop that early -- although the idea of .99 / yard flannel at Jo-Ann's almost motivated me to get out of the house. :)
Another reason DC is so windy sometimes is that it is getting the winds from off the coast since it is only a few miles upriver from the Atlantic. It is beautiful at night.
Yaaaaaawwwwwnnnnnnn! And waddle, waddle, waddle! Our friends, the black couple who invited us for Thanksgiving, put on a spread I couldn't believe. There were at least 50 people there at all times and some left and others came in. We had turkey, dressing, ham, potato salad, turkey wings, chicken spaghetti (which I love), English peas, turnip greens, etc. She was a cook at one of the schools in Jackson for many years until she moved into the school office this year. Man, can she cook. She made 12 cakes, including caramel, lemon, German chocolate, coconut, red velvet, various poundcakes, chocolate, and a concoction with 3 layers of white cake a strawberry juice poured over the cake, with strawberry jam between the layers, and and fresh strawberries and whipped cream between the layers and on top. And there was sweet potato pie and pecan pie. I brought home 3 plates of various cakes.
unimp, it's been windy here too. The wind this morning was at 10 miles per hour, coming out of the north. The dog didn't spend much time outside this morning, to my relief.
I know that sounds strange. Ya know how the chinese have a certain animal they choose to be the animal of the year. Fish, dragon, etc.
Well, for me it has been the year or the half a year (started in June) of the dentist. Another tooth is in need of removal to get rid of the nerve that is driving me crazy.
My sister clued me into percogesic, over the counter stuff. And I feel like at least being on my feet for awhile longer.
But it is a sslllooooowwwww day here at the newspaper. I think we've seen all of five people all day.
The guy at the tire store wasn't slow though, EVERYBODY was going to see him while I waited there 45 minutes on my tire.
Wow! I just tuned in to the Egg Bowl and with 9 minutes left, Ole Miss was 14 and State 0. Then State scored a touchdown and extra point. Go State! You need to win this won!!!
Katherine, thank you for sharing your sister's blog site. I have been copying and pasting like a war eagle!
And we are eating again! I baked my first whole ham night before last, so we are having ham and cheese sandwiches with sweet pickles and mayonnaise and mustard and they are yummy! And there is all that cake and chocolate fudge just lurking in the background! Heh!
Oh, great shades of all things sweet! State just scored again and it's tied up 14-14 with 2 1/2 minutes left. When I have my heart attack, at least I will have a full stomach!
OMG! I just wet myself! State wins 17-14! May every obnoxious Ole Miss loving lawyer in the whole wide world jump up and kiss my cowbell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, my dad left me the cowbell! I, who NEVER watch football on TV, tuned in at the 9 minutes to go mark when State was losing 14-0 and couldn't turn loose or quit hollering. And I went to USM back when a lot of our players went on to play pro ball.
I'll be blessed. The 'DAWGS' pull this one out. Was watching the internet reports and was down all afternon seeing they were losing to those guys from Oxford. But they pulled it out. Now to just find out what bowl game they are going to.
Never snowed in with a 4x4 and a good pair of snowshoes. Went to the park and walked a 3/4 around Bear Lake to get some exercise. 6" of snow on the ground/trail and it was fun watching other people being goofyt on the ice of Bear Lake. Realize Bear Lake is at 9600'.
Regina, I'm getting the sausage dip recipe for you and it's great. All of you State fans GO DAWGS!!! I'm happy for you. I saw the most incredible finger pickin guitar player today that I've ever seen (he's going to be on the Grand Ol Opry tomorrow night) and I'll tell you more about it later but I'm grieving at the moment and have to share.
I got home from KO tonight and found my little boy, Merle, dead on his blanket. He's my beautiful orange, 5 year old, tabby and he looked like he was asleep. I have no idea what happened, but whatever it was, it seems he died peacefully in his sleep due to the way he was laying on his blanket. I just left yesterday morning and got back tonight, but from what I can determine, he died peacefully in his sleep on his fleece blanket during the night last night. I've called several friends and have a few coming in the morning to help me fix him a place somewhere on my property and give him a proper send off.
I'll update you guys more later. Thank you all for being my friends.
Regina, that is most definitely right. I was just in Ohio two weeks ago and it was cold and wet and just plain nasty. I was dressed like i dress out here for cold weather and I was just freezing.
Trust me it is COLD. Last night it was in close to single digits. As I look out my window, wait I CANNOT see out my windows they are ice covered on the outside of the storm glass.
Oh, Coop, I am so sorry! Our beloved Hungry Jack, the black and white American shorthaired 22-pound ball playing cat, died in the same way. My husband found him under his favorite wicker chair, peacefully gone away to the Rainbow Bridge. He was less than 6 years old. We had an autopsy done and they couldn't find a cause of death. We think he had a heart attack over Braveheard, our tabby who had just been fixed and was back home. He would hide behind the door and when I came through, he would jump out, wrap his legs around my leg and nip me on the calf. I still miss the big galoot!
Welcome back, Marshall! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and got some much needed rest. We have tried to keep the blog alive in your absence, but you have been missed.
Thank you all! We had a service for Merle outside of Crystal Springs today. My friends that own property there have designated a portion to be a pet cemetary. They have 4 little dogs of their own and made a special place for Merle, thinking it would be easier for them one day when they need it. Merle's spot is beautiful. Under a huge oak tree.
My eyes are so swollen from crying the past 24 hours I can hardly see. I look like a big ol frog...wait a minute, I love frogs!!

Good morning! Merry Thanksgiving Eve to everyone.
Mighty Penguin, we are getting snow too, the melted kind. It is a pretty gray day. The rain is peppering down and the leaves are shining out scarlet and gold.

Did y'all notice the file photo of Hillary Clinton and O'bama on the editorial page of the c-l today?
Look at her face! Marshall could have fun drawing that one couldn't he
Morning folks!
YEAH.
Hope everyone has a great day!
LOL!!! Leagle Eagle!!! We are glad you finally got up and ruffled your feathers this morning. Your reaction was JUST as FUNNY as Clucky's remark!
Coop, is your baby on a pump?
Well, y'all, the good news is, I don't have gray hair anymore, so I won't be guiding any ships into harbor for awhile.
The not-so-good news is, I left the hair color on a TINSY bit TOOOO long. And this brown hair color I was supposed to have looks jet black.
I resemble Elvira or Snow White. My skin looks REALLY white against this hair color i have.
I"m wearing my favorite fall sweatshirt, orange with leaves and pumpkins and corn on it.
my daddy (he's always the encouraging kind. ha ha) informed me that Halloween was over when he saw me.
Not yet, but he's getting her one. He thinks she should wait until her levels settle out a bit more, but since she's met her $5,400 deductible for the year and the thing is about $6,000, he's going ahead and getting it for her before the end of the year. Probably won't hook her up on it till early next year.
How old is she?
Regina, she's 31, but she'll always be my baby girl.
Eagle, your fudge sound great! And I'll be praying for your littlest babe to be just fine. I know how precious grandbabes are!
BTW, Woopwa has been doing a great job giving us our MS trivia each morning. Way to go woopwa!!
Today's weather report: It might rain and get colder. Then again, it might not.
Bro. Marcus almost completely blacked out and he was driving.
three pounds of fudge sounds like a nice way to start out the Thanksgiving holiday weekend Eagle. I would save it for emergency chocolate purposes.
You never know when the electricity might go out and you need some extra nourishment on hand. Like tonight when you turn the lights out.
Huuuummm!
I meant chocolate fudge and coffee. Oops!
Okay, somebody needs to come up with a new number for us to hit.
We've made two of our goals, figuratively speaking, it was still night when Stacey helped us hit 200.
Mayberry, welcome back!
Oh, and GO STATE!
Well, they are cutting me loose so I don't guess I'll see it get to 250.
I may have some access to a computer over the holiday, but in the meantime
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!
"There is no pleasure in having nothing to do; the fun is in having lots to do and not doing it."

Sorry, I had to go. Somebody had the audacity to have a wreck today and I had to go check it out.
While there I went to put some more gold in my car, and since walmart was so handy I got the stuff i needed for tomorrow.
So i'm settled in for the afternoon.
My favorite cousins who live in Pike county (on the Miss/Louisiana border) are getting socked right now. Golf ball sized hail and wind.
Thanks, Coop.
:)
We will Katherine, thanks. All folks are on alert. The sunshine isn't helping us. It is keeping teh atmosphee warmed up.
You have a good Thanksgiving day tomorrow. i will be checking in from time to time during the day if I'm not too busy taking storm pictures.
It was quite humerous. I fielded a call while ago from a friend of mine looking for my boss.
I told him about the bad weather coming. He said "Now Regina, I was looking forward to leaving without a lot of claims to file." Then I caught is voice, he was an insurance agent.
I told him to be prepapred.
Watercolor, a mouse not stirring and a fuzzy red robe sounds like the makings of a Christmas story.
At last!! 250
Dear Lord,
Thank you for these friends I've met that are physically not so near, please bless them tomorrow as they gather with those they hold so dear, and may they ever know as we wander to and fro that they are loved dearly by You and me no matter where they go. Amen
HAPPY THANKSGIVING my DEAR friends. Will check in tomorrow sometime. LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!! Regina
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuddddggggggge...
mmmmmmmmmmmm. I haven't made fudge in so long.
Well, Penguin, you aren't by yourself. Mr. Eagle always makes the pecans pies in our family.
I am here for now, but soon going to be gone. Time is just flying by.
I just had to run some errands and stopped by County Market and picked up a 99 cents per pound whole ham. Since I have never cooked a whole ham before, I'm off on a new adventure. Stacey - how bout deep fried fudge???
Thanksgiving greeting from Washington. My only comments about driving up here is Virginia must have made a fortune yesterday on traffic tickets (not from me).
Merry Thanksgivoween!
~:>
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
unimp - Glad you made the trip safely (and without contributing to the Virginia state budget!) :)
If you have a chance while you're here you should go to Trader Joe's and get some Candy Cane cookies to take back to our buddies in MS.
yppah gnivigsknath enoyreve.
Just to let you all know. Susan was the only one to answer the question of the day correctly. The question was Why. My step father was a pyscology professor and on his final examine, he simply put Why? All but one of his student went into a long spill of Why. Only one student passed, when she wrote Why Not?
Have a blessed day.
Regina, LOVED your poem. Very sweet.
I hope everyone is having a great day!
I won I won! Thanks, Bloggerman!
Gobble gobble to all on Turkey Day. Parade is done and we're already late leaving for the in-laws for lunch!
Thank you for your support re: the MRBA t-shirt. Now all I need to do is sell Marshall on the idea. Huuuuummmmmmm!
Gobble! Gobble! Happy Turkey Day Everybody!!!
BTW Susan, I'd ask Bloggerman exactly WHAT you won before you celebrate too much.He might "let" you wash his fire truck for a week. hee hee
MAN!!!!! Why do we do this??? I've been grazing (didn't see TC anywhere) since 9:30 this a.m.
Regina, I'll get the recipe from Lil Sis. It is FINE. I could have done with just that today, but instead, let me see...
Beginning 9:30 a.m.
Bacon, bisquit & coffee
a cookie
sausage dip & chips
broci/cauli/carrot & ranch dip
shrimp dip & crackers
rice pudding
made and tasted deviled eggs
a cookie
(ok, I think it's about noon or possibly 1 p.m.)
sampled pickles
a cookie
somehow managed to not eat for a few hours while trying to do some stuff on moms pc...possibly went into some kind of food time warp because I can't really remember what I did
Approx 3 p.m.
tasted ham (perfect)
sampled another deviled egg (sorry Clucky)
tasted ham again (still perfect)
tasted turkey (perfect)
(keep in mind that I'm not actually COOKING anything, just enjoying Mom & Dad's expertise)
Some time around 5:30 we all loaded plates (since I was so full I'll say mine wasn't really loaded, but anyway) with:
Turkey, ham, chicken wings, sausage, chickin-in-dressing, english peas, string beans, chicken spagetti, sweet potato casserole, deviled eggs, rolls,...and I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but it doesn't matter!!
274th!!
Come back soon Marshall. We miss you!
Everyone have a great day!
And how many of you are doing major shopping today.
On a side note: I did not know Washington was such a windy city.
unimp - normally DC isn't so windy, but in the winter when a cold front comes through, we can give Chicago a run for its money!
It was worth getting out of bed at 5 am. to see the full moon setting. I called big sis whom I was meeting at Fred's and askedher if she saw it.
"My eyes aren't open yet and you are asking me that?" she shot back.
There was also a bright Christmas star in the East. A beautiful way to start the Christmas season.
The only place my tail feathers are at 5 am is IN MY BED! :)
he he he
I'm not enough of a morning person to shop that early -- although the idea of .99 / yard flannel at Jo-Ann's almost motivated me to get out of the house. :)
Another reason DC is so windy sometimes is that it is getting the winds from off the coast since it is only a few miles upriver from the Atlantic. It is beautiful at night.
My mom said the only reason she would be out of bed at 5 a.m. is if her children were lost, and they'd better have a good reason for being lost.
Regina, the platter sounds like a great idea.
THANK GOD for DRUUUGGGSSS!!!!
I meant one, but won works better!
Heh!
Come on State; you can do it!
I know my dad is turning cartwheels in Heaven! Bless his heart; he never missed a State game, even when they were losing.
Eagle!! LOL!!! I just wish I'd tuned into you earlier.
Joyce and I were just wondering how the game was going. I didn't realize you were giving us an update.
I didn't realize you had stolen topiary cow's bell, or did she let you borrow it?
Actually, my dad left me the cowbell! I, who NEVER watch football on TV, tuned in at the 9 minutes to go mark when State was losing 14-0 and couldn't turn loose or quit hollering. And I went to USM back when a lot of our players went on to play pro ball.
Yes, I was a Southern Eagle before I became a Legal Eagle!
USM seems to have a pretty campus. We pass by it every time we go to the gulf coast
I'll bet Marshall will have something cute to draw about the egg bowl when he comes back from R&R
Someone said they saw Coach Croom crying after the big win. And who says coaches don't cry?
I'll bet Sid Salter will have maroon garland on Marshall's desk by the time he gets back Monday. hee hee
I'll be blessed. The 'DAWGS' pull this one out. Was watching the internet reports and was down all afternon seeing they were losing to those guys from Oxford. But they pulled it out. Now to just find out what bowl game they are going to.
299
And now we have 300 for the day!!! Go DAWGS
THANK YOU MIGHTY PENGUIN!!!
I'll bet vhdawg is ringing his cowbell off today, too.
Are you still snowed in?
Never snowed in with a 4x4 and a good pair of snowshoes. Went to the park and walked a 3/4 around Bear Lake to get some exercise. 6" of snow on the ground/trail and it was fun watching other people being goofyt on the ice of Bear Lake. Realize Bear Lake is at 9600'.
And I've been wondering where all those State fans are today and hoping they are not being checked out in the local emergency rooms!
Five more minutes and my LOOONNNNGGG day is done at last!!
Penguin, trekking around Bear Lake sounds like fun. it also sounds like COLD.
I'm told it doesn't SEEM as cold out there because of the dry snow, compared to the humidity of muggy Mississippi when it snows.
And if I was on the ice at Bear Lake? My tail bone would be busted, that's for sure.
Go State! I'm soooo excited!!!

Whew! That ballgame ending reminded me to take my blood pressure medicine, and it's time for today's chocolate fudge sample!

I am sooo sorry. I know how much it hurts to lose a pet.
Braveheart, not Braveheard. She's a cat, not a cow!
dhcoop, I am so sorry! hugs!!!
