Marshall Ramsey, 39, is the editorial cartoonist for The Clarion-Ledger. He is a two-time Pulitzer finalist and is nationally syndicated by Copley News Service. His cartoons have appeared in USA Today, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, The Chicago Tribune, The New York Times and on his Mother's refrigerator. It is also rumored that his work has appeared frequently in the bathrooms of several prominent local politicians.

This is what happens when the big money donors threaten the AD by withholding donations.
Wow! I am in shock too. Didn't see this coming. Got an email from a friend telling me.
Ole Miss fans, here is your chance. Bower is a polarizing coach in Mississippi. He's taken a team in the conference of abbreviations (USM, UCF, UAB, UTEP, etc.) and has made them a national name. Grab him quick 'cause he won't be on the market long.
To USM's AD, dumb, dumb, dumb.
NOTE: CBS Sportsline is saying he "resigned." The CL's headline is more accurate.
We are keeping Croom.
Maybe Bower will get picked up at Ole Miss... HA!
I saw the headline this morning and just about fainted. He's legacy at USM. No college football coach stays with the same team 17 years. Just plain wrong.
At the beginning of the season, I would have said that Coach O and Bower would have survived and Croom would have been the one on the hotseat.
Coach O, I get. Bower, I don't. What a knuckle-brained decision. A winning program, a clean program. Boom.
As supermom said, stupid, stupid, stupid.
As the old saying in coaching goes, it's not if you will be fired, it's when.
So what's the old saying D#$@ if you do win and D#@#% if you don't? Do they need their heads examined????
Maybe Leagel Eagle needs to fly over there and straighten them out.
Legal Eagle was hatched as a Southern Eagle and I still know where to go to peck someone severely!!! I'm headed that way now and luckily don't need that gold out of the gas pump to get there - just exercising my wings and eating a turkey sandwich before I take off.

Unfortunately, it's not surprising. Being an alumnus of USM with family and friends in the Hattiesburg area, I know quite a few people who've not appreciated Bower in the past few years because they expect more out of USM considering the Eagles' schedule.
Go get 'em eagle! And sharpen your taloons before you go.
