Housecleaning time

The blog has grown to over 100mb. That's a lot of stuff -- and considering how many thousands of posts I've done, it's no big surprise. But it's also gumming up the works and we are about to transfer over the blog to a new system. So I have to delete 2006. So this is where you come in.

What from 2006 would you like me to save?

I plan on saving the cartoons and "Best of the Blog" stuff. Otherwise, it will go in the cybertrash if you don't speak up.

UPDATE:
Here's a link to 2006 blogs.

Is there a link to 2006 so we can look at it? I didn't see it on your main page.

I don't know if it's considered one of the cartoons, but you should keep "How I Draw a Cartoon"

I plan on keeping that, too. The stuff already in the right bar, I will keep.

Keep what seems important to you. The rest, we'll live without.

Wwaaaaa!!! I want it all. Can you not store it on a drive within your computer to go back to from time to time to post?

Okay, *sniff* *sniff* I will settle down. I want you to save the story of where you almost hit rudolph last december. That was my favorite.

Also the Katrina stuff

heeheehee... I just re-read Law and Order: Jackson. Good stuff.

Eh, the best of the blog is good enough. No need to save everything, unless you can back it up to some drive somewhere and go back and read it when you're 80.

See? Stacey and I think alike. Is that scary or what?

I'm just an old pack rat, I believe in keeping everything. I have a landfill of newspapers on my desk now.

Your old blog stuff will make good book fodder. I know you can copy and paste it into documents, but I'm sure there is a faster way to save the whole thing on a drive somewhere.

Now I typed that magic word right and it didn't take. Okay here goes again.

Stacey, you talked him through saving our night last night, do you have any suggestions for him on saving his old stuff?

We are housecleaning, too. Well, 2 daughters are. One is getting a new bed to replace the hand-me-down waterbed she was sleeping in. The other is just tired of having 2 twin beds in her room and wants one of them out of there. It's amazing how much stuff you can put in those under-the-bed drawers that you will never need again.

Strictly from the perspective of someone who likes surfing blogs, there's really not much of a need to keep things other than the front page if your intention, as I assume Marshall's is, is to attract readers. Most first-time blog readers aren't going to go past the first few posts... if you're not interesting on the first page anywhere, you're not interesting period.

Saving your best stuff is a good idea, Marshall, because it's awesome and downright hilarious. I like reading it.

And keeping the cartoons is good, too since we really don't have a proper archive.

Oh yeah, duh. Good idea.

Andy has figured out a way to save everything. To be honest, an archive of old stuff is a good idea. I might want to repackage some of this crap into a book.
