Veteran's Day
Veteran's Day. While the Government holiday is tomorrow, the real one is today. The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month -- Armistice day. The official end of World War I, the war to end all wars (hardly). Today, we have a stretched V.A. system, we had thousands of wounded vets coming in from Afghanistan and Iraq who have been getting poor care at Walter Reed and we have recent reports that show that one in four homeless people are Veterans. We need to do better honoring our heroes.
I couldn't do what I do with out the sacrifices these men and women have made. People like to throw around the word freedom lightly -- but for me, it is my oxygen. My cartoons would be a blank piece of paper without Veterans.
So this Veteran's Day, I officially say thank you to ever person (my Dad and Father-in-law, and Brother-in-law included) who have ever put on a uniform.

As my husband is off to fly the dead/injured out of Iraq this weekend... a big reminder that our Veterans are the true heroes.
Supermom, I appreciate your husband and what he does for our country.
*sniff* Marshall "sniff* Excuse me, I can't see for the tears.
Our freeedom is bought with a price. Not just the price of life, but the price of time away from families, the price of eyes and limbs.
Supermom, ditto what Coop said. Give your husband a hug from me. Everybody has a job to do, and our job is to say a mere thank you. A million dollars each is not enough to pay them for their courage.
Yesterday I sold poppies in front of Wal-mart. I was astounded at the number of people who take little thought in what the soldiers mean. I guess you have to be a member of that special familiy to realize it.
I am part of our local American Legion capter. My family and I are going to hold services on the Bramlett Cemtery hill in honor of my granddad at 2 p.m.
I told them we would do this several weeks ago. Just gather and say a prayer, plant a flag and honor granddad.
but then Wednesday when I reminded mom about it, she said she would get uncle larry to hurry and get the foot marker out there. So now it has turned into a marker dedication ceremony as well. So I'm at the office writing my speech. I think it is going to be special.
On behalf of many many Soldiers, Thanks! Knowing people like you support us, makes it all worth while!
Nice,MR. Real Nice.
Amen.

Someone sent this to me and I'll share with you.
A veteran-whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve-is someone who at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check may payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."
Marshall,
Thanks for this drawing.
Our MILITARY should have won the Noble Peace Prize, not Al Gore.
