If coaches are going to be paid major $$$ and not produce a 8-2 season, then cartoonists ought to be in the middle/upper 6 figure range.

Why

They both produce the same amount of Sunday's funnies.

Editorial cartoonists, anyway. Schulz made somewhere around $32 million a month during his prime.

Mornin!

A dear friend of mine rescued a precious cat 3 weeks ago from the Clinton Kroger parking lot. He tried for 2 weeks to get his 9 year old ornery male tabby to make friends, but he has turned into devil cat and is MOST unhappy with daddy. My friend tried to take Kroger Cat (her name now) to CARA, but they couldn't take her and they gave him a voucher to get her fixed. She's at the vet now and going to be picked up tonight. She's a 6-8 months old, bob-tailed, now fixed, calico with a precious personality. He would love to keep her, but, like I said, his mature male is just entirely too unhappy with the idea. And, I, having just lost Merle last week, feel it's too soon to try to introduce anyone new to my household, SOOO, if you or anyone you know is looking to adopt a beautiful kitty, PLEASE let me know.

I know you were all worried.... i got my fancy bluetooth mouse to talk to my new fancy computer finally. :) had to download new drivers for the mouse. Not sure why they bother to include the disk with the mouse to begin with... heh.

Well, this is just wrong! What is the world coming to? Elmo Shropshire, who sang "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer," is being sued for breach of contract. That's just not right.

Hi all! I'm back from Davey Jones Locker!! That's where I was most of yesterday. I was not myself when I sat at this desk for two hours cranking out page 1 stuff. As soon as it was done I went home and SLEPT.

Took medicine and SLEPT AGAIN!!

Coop, spend one hour with the cat before you decide not to keep it.

You will be surprised how much new life will help soothe your hurt.

My son lost his favorite feist to a snake bite six years ago. The lady that works with us happened to have one dropped at her house over that same weekend. We went on Monday and picked her up, and little JoJo has been Jon's fast friend ever since.

Coop, that little kitty needs you and you need her. Our Braveheart hailed us down in the middle of nowhere and asked to be fed tuna fish and taken home. After being born in the neighborhood, Hoodlum finally decided to accept us one night when the temperature was going to get down to 28 degrees. Neither one have wanted to go outside since.

I have found so many homes for kittens and cats in my life, that it just makes my heart bleed when I hear of one needing a home. Back when I was working, I could put out an e-mail and pretty much have a new home for the little one before the day was out, but I don't have those contacts anymore. One friend moved to Colorado with 3 dogs and 9 cats and 2 of her cats were found by Mr. E and me and she adopted them.

And, MR, are you not an editorial cartoonist? I think you are highly qualified for that position and salary.

gigi, I hope you check this part of the blog again. I noticed on your profile, after you mentioned katrina, that you live in Gautier.

My family and I lived there, too, in the college park apartments from 1973-1974. I went to College park elementary and what is now Gautier middle school (it was the jr. high in my day on Graveline Road).

My son and I have spent fun times at the Shepherd State park crabbing and camping.

I am sooo sorry about your record collection. But don't lose heart. Try it again, and take them with you this time. Antique stores are a good place to start finding them and they are usually $1 to $2.

You can also find some old albums at flea markets. I searched high and low for one by Johnny Cash for years called White Chritmas. Dad got it in 1970 and us kids played it to death. He found another one somewhere. (his was scratched up for some reason.) I finally found my copy of it this past spring at a flea market.

EAgle, where did you find the information about Elmo? Jon and I have his CD. WE love every song he sings on it.

Regina, you don't happen to have a copy of "Kay," do you? I can't remember who sang it, but it was about a cab driver in Nashville. "I'm living, yet I'm dying, looking out at Music City from my cab."

My number 4 child was born in July 1974 at Gulfport Memorial and child number 5 followed in October 1975 same place.

And the Elmo info came from a breaking news entertainment e-mail from WAPT. You can go to wapt.com, entertainment, and click on the story.

Eagle, Marshall may get kill me for this, but i'm going to post the whole thing. I found it on google for you right quick. I think you can take it from there. Some guy asked the same question on the Q&A. is this the song you are looking for? lyrics follow, eeeeek.

John Wesley Riles (or Ryles - its listed both ways in several places I have found, I actually think it is Ryles) sang "Kay" which was written by Hank Mills. Darryl Singletary also sings a version with John Wesley singing backup. Here's the lyrics plus some other information I found:

"KAY"
Recorded by John Wesley Riles
Submitted by Thomas Rivers

(verse 1)
KAY WITH ALL YOUR SINGING TALENT BACK IN HOUSTON
NASHVILLE'S ALL YOU TALKED ABOUT
I SOLD EVERYTHING I OWNED TO BRING YOU HERE
NOW YOU'LL BE FAMOUS, THERE'S NO DOUBT
LAST NIGHT YOU KNOCKED EM' OUT IN NEW YORK
TONIGHT CHICAGO'S GOING WILD
KAY YOUR NEW RECORD ON THE JUKEBOX DON'T SOUND BAD
KAY I'M LIVING YET I'M DYING STARING OUT AT MUSIC CITY FROM MY CAB

(verse 2)
CAUTION LIGHTS BLINK OUT THEIR WARNING
SOME OLD BIG BEN CLOCK CHIMES 3 A. M.
STARVIN HOUND DOGS SEARCH THE TRASH CANS
MY GAS TANK COULD STAND A DOLLAR'S WORTH AGAIN
ALL THOSE CHUCK HOLES HERE ON MAIN ST
JAR MY RIB CAGE I COULD CUSS
KAY THE CROWD OF NIGHT LIFE PEOPLE LOOK SO SAD
KAY I'M LIVING YET I'M DYING STARING OUT AT MUSIC CITY FROM MY CAB.

(Chorus)
GUITARS, ORGANS, HORNS, VIOLINS, AND PIANOS HOW THEY PLAY
GRINDING OUT THE LATEST SOUNDS FROM MUSIC CITY U.S.A.
KAY ALTHO' I KNOW I'VE LOST YOU TO THE SWINGING MUSIC WORLD
I KISS THE PICTURES OF THE HAPPY TIMES WE'VE HAD
KAY I'M LIVING, YET I'M DYING STARING OUT AT MUSIC CITY FROM MY CAB

(verse 3)
TWO YOUNG SOLDIERS FROM FT. CAMPBELL
TOLD ME HOW THEY HATE THAT WAR IN VIET NAM
SIRENS ECHOED THRU AN ALLEY AND SOME WOMAN
SAID SOME FELLOW STABBED A MAN.
I RUSHED MISS TEENAGE TO A DOCTOR
SHE BEGGED TO GIVE THE CHILD MY NAME
I'VE LOST COUNT OF CUPS OF COFFEE THAT I'VE HAD
KAY I'M LIVING YET I'M DYING STARING OUT AT MUSIC CITY FROM MY CAB.

(Repeat Chorus)

(verse 4)
THREE ROSE PETALS ON MY FRONT SEAT
FALLEN FROM THE BOUQUET JIMMY TOOK TO JUNE
JIM KEPT MUMBLING THROUGH HIS TEARDROPS
GOD SHE'LL LEAVE THIS WORLD WITH FLOWERS IN HER ROOM
KAY I SHOWED SOME DRUNK YOUR PICTURE
AND HE MADE SOME SMART REMARK
SO I HIT HIM IN THE MOUTH BOY WAS I MAD
KAY I'M LIVING YET I'M DYING STARING OUT AT MUSIC FROM MY CAB

OMG! THAT'S IT EXACTLY! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I have Googled until I have turned blue in the face and haven't been able to find it. I found it a few years ago, but couldn't find it again. I lived in San Antonio from early 1976 to early 1980 and this was one of the most popular songs on the jukeboxes, along with Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain and Let's Go to Luckenbaugh, Texas. I love this song!
