Bowling party

Son #1 had a bowling party tonight. It was his baseball team's end-of-the-year party and to be honest, I wasn't so sure about the idea. But man, it was fun. Kids and parents seemed to have a good time. It was a good, relaxing end to the fall season.

We had a pretty good season, no real moments jumped out at me, but the kids all got along and had a pretty good time. I know some parents are pretty intense about sports at this age, but I kind of take the attitude that I want my kids to learn the fundamentals. And I want them to have fun. Come to think of it, if you take the FUN out of that world, you have damentals, which sounds a lot like demented. But I digress.

My kid was lucky to have great coaches this year. They didn't forget that the kids were seven and eight. And they cared for the boys.

That meant a hell of a lot to me.

My son is proud of his trophy. But I know he got a lot more out of the experience than a shiny piece of plastic and steel. And I have the coaches to thank for that.

Having good coaches makes all the difference in the world-along with supportive parents.

We had really good parents, too.

I like your take on the fundamentals word. I will have to remember that for my sports editor.
